Art_Value: Auction
The project "Art_Value: Auction" is part of the larger "Art_Value" project and is a series of art auctions where the viewer is encouraged to rethink the notion of the "artwork as a commodity". The project consists of creating a situation in which the buyer (art collector) of the artwork becomes a co-author of the work.
In such improvised situation of the art auction, the bidders compete for the highest price, but the finalised price becomes artwork's content, the numbers of the price get imprinted in the artwork. The sum the winners pay for the artwork gets printed on the paper by the mechanical calculator (or other financial means like a numerical stamp). This artwork in a shape of a receipt gets certified by a Certificate of Authenticity and signed by the artist. Valuation of artwork, numerical aesthetics and monetary value of the artwork get exposed in the process and results in the outcome.
