Postabstraction
The project examines aspects of abstraction. By inspecting various types of abstraction, it aims to reach a more concise understanding of different abstract forms under one umbrella concept – Postabstraction. It is based around personal artistic practice within the framework of the projects recombining visual, linguistic (textual), and numerical (and economic) abstractions as an aesthetic lens for artistic practice and research.
Question the autonomy of form and in post-abstraction, abstraction is not denied — but it is made aware of its conditions.
To question the autonomy of form is to reject the idea that artistic form exists independently of context and politics, history, culture, technology, or power. Form is not neutral or self-contained; it is shaped by the conditions in which it appears.
In postabstraction, abstraction is not abandoned, but made self-aware. It continues to use abstract language while acknowledging the contexts, systems, and realities that influence and frame it.
